Home Schoolers, Wanna Play?

Come join the fun and learn music in a positive, motivating class environment. Beginners can see everyone making progress in their class, get some individual help from the teacher and play together as a team. This is great for building listening skills and steady beat. Students learn using a songbook plus a music theory workbook. Reading musical notation is included and different styles are introduced. Students can stay in the group setting for one year, or switch to private lessons at any time. Recitals are planned at the end of the year where parents and families attend the class to hear a performance.

 Piano Class (Keyboard)

Two age groups 4-6 year olds,  7-10 year olds 
These are introductory classes for beginners with up to ten students in each class. We teach a notation-based program, focusing on reading music and rhythms, technique, ensembles, and some theory activities. Performance for parents will be scheduled at the end of the year, and the teacher will assess the student's progress and recommend private piano lessons at the appropriate time. Students should have a keyboard or piano at home to practice weekly assignments.

Guitar Class

Two age groups offered: 8-11 year olds, 12 years and up
This class is for beginning guitar students with up to ten students, and we focus on learning to tune the guitar, reading music, playing melody, chords, strumming, basic skills and techniques, and ensemble playing. Students use a songbook plus a music workbook. Performance for parents will be scheduled at the end of the year and the teacher will assess the student's progress and recommend private lessons at the appropriate time. Students bring their guitar to class (a student size acoustic or electric is fine).

Percussion Class

Two age groups offered: 5-8 year olds, 9 years and up
This class is for beginning percussion students with up to ten students, and we focus on learning to play the bells and snare drum, reading music, techniques, and ensemble playing. Students use a songbook plus a music workbook. Performance for parents will be scheduled at the end of the year and the teacher will assess the student's progress and recommend private lessons at the appropriate time. Students bring to class a bell and snare kit.
